7:30 am
- Traditional
9:00 am - Contemporary
11:11am - Alternative
Episcopal Church worship services around the world generally follow the order of events or Order of Worship as stated in our 1979 Book of Common Prayer. Within the guidelines set forth in this book, a great deal of variation of expression is seen. At St. Andrew, we have three services from which to choose, each being different in style.
Traditional Service (Rite I Mass) - 7:30 am
The Traditional service closely follows
what is know as Rite I in the Book of Common Prayer. The
language used in prayers, confession, and in other parts of the liturgy
or order of worship is that found in worship service during most of the
20th century. The entire service is more traditional in language and
music. This service has a great deal of appeal to parishoners who
typically have been Episcopalians for a longer time and are comfortable
with that which has been familiar to them.
Principle Service
(Rite II Mass) - 9:00 am
The Contemporary service follows an order
of worship set forth in Common Worship. The language used has a
more modern sound. The music sung comes both from a traditional hymnal
and from a newer hymnal which contains a wider range of more recently
written hymns. This service is kind of regarded as the 'family service'
in that one finds all sorts of folks attending this service: young,
old, married, single, children, and so on. The service is probably the
most common style of that found throughout all Episcopal churches
nationwide.
Alternative Service
- 11:11 am
This is an upbeat, energized, and very
modern service having a great deal of appeal to teens and younger
families. The language is of today. The music played by a fully plugged
in, electronic group is exciting and charged. Visual images are
projected on a large screen at the altar. You have to experience an
11:11 Service to really appreciate it. Come see for yourself.
