At Saint Andrew there are many opportunities to serve. Ways that are currently active are listed below. If you think of other paths, please share them with us. In the meanwhile, our hope is that you will find that perfect fit for you here.

Community Outreach and Service

andrew's cross - Join the team of EYC on Sunday nights. Help us start an after-school program offering tutoring and music. Develop small groups and book clubs. Sponsor young family play and fellowship times.

Outdoor Chapel - Help us begin a new ministry directed toward community service. This ministry seeks to provide programs that enrich the lives of young people and enhance lives of all. In this ministry, you will help develop andrew's cross herb & flower garden, restore and beautify deteriorated residential and business buildings, develop inner-city gardens, teach and involve young people in gardening projects and co-ops, develop our website, HerbanRelief.com, that will serve as a worldwide newsletter directed toward bringing relief to people living in urban areas.

Fellowship

Fellowship Committee member - This committee is charged with promoting and encouraging fellowship within the parish family by designing, organizing and offering a variety of events.

Pastoral Care Team - Team members are active in all sorts of caring-in-action including prayers for any need brought to them; preparing and bringing food for funerals, the ill or temporarily homebound or a welcome home meal for a family with a new baby; sending cards for birthdays, anniversries, sympathy, praying fo you or confirmations; making little bouquets from the larger arrangements and delivering them to hospitalized, homebound, new parents, etc.; and keeping in contact with parishioners who are homebound, residents of nursing homes or assisted living facilities, letting them know that they are not forgotten and in assisting with their needs where possible. Donations accepted for food and/or supplies even if one cannot donate of their time.

Music, Technology & Arts

Choir member - Any teen or adult with the ability to sing during the 9:00 AM Sunday service and other special holiday services (and is able to attend rehearsals) is welcome to join the choir. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:15 - 8:30 p.m..

Power Point Presentation creator - Join the 11:11 Team and help us make weekly PowerPoint Presentations. We will provide free training and equipment.

Video Editor - Learn how to make video clips for the 11:11 service.

Web Site Team - Become a 'reporter' for the news and activities of Saint Andrew. Provide guidance, suggestions, photos, and information for the web site. No experience needed.

Ministries of Finance

Resource Commission - Evaluate monthly financial statements and recommend to Vestry on financial matters. Oversee the Saint Andrew Trust and Carmichael Hope Fund.

Money counter - Any trustworthy adult who is able to maintain confidentiality and is willing to count the loose offering and note pledge income. This ministry is accomplished on Monday mornings.

Worship

Acolyte - Any baptized adult or child (normally third grade and up) who wishes to assist the clergy in the worship of the parish at the altar of St. Andrew's. No experience necessary. Training required.

Altar Guild - Anyone, male or female, called to serve God by preparing and tending the place where His people worship by maintaining all vestments, washing and ironing altar linens, polishing brass and silver, and setting the altar for all services of public worship.

Ambassadors for Christ - Serve at each worship service to greet all and assist guests and new members.

Healing Prayer Team member - A community of Christian people committed to furthering the healing ministry of Christ in the parish and community. Members are scheduled each Sunday at the 7:30 and 9:00 AM worship services to pray for congregation members asking for specific prayer. Some training is necessary.

Lay Eucharistic Minister - A confirmed communicant in good standing licensed by the Bishop and trained by the Rector to administer the chalice at any Celebration of Holy Eucharist.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors to the Homebound - A confirmed communicant in good standing trained and licensed by the Bishop to administer the sacraments directly from corporate worship to members unable to attend.

Lectors - Any person (normally third grade and up) with an excellent speaking voice who wants to read the Scripture in the service. No previous speaking experience is necessary.

Presenter - Anyone able to walk and carry at the same time (age 12-18 months and up) is invited to present the bread, wine, and water. Three steps involved as well as one long aisle! Families encouraged. Families of one will be paired with another.

Usher - Any member of the congregation willing to pass out bulletins and collect the offering.

Youth and Children

Atrium Helper - Join the leaders upstairs and help the children as they discover and explore the lessons taught through the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

Children's Church - 9:00 AM and 11:11 AM every week. Once a month lead the children in hands-on and creative teaching during the second and third services.

Junior & SeniorHigh Youth Ministry - Participate at EYC or Christian Formation. Be a big brother or sister, be a friend, be someone willing to make a difference in a young person's life. Help us lead activities and sports that involve the young people in times of fellowship and fun. Help facilitate discussions that help young people grow in their relationship with Christ and with one another.

Other

Building and Grounds - Maintenance and improvements of physical facilities and grounds.

Cursillo Renewal Weekend - Three-day renewal weekend. "Short Course in Christianity".

Foot Loose & Fancy Free - Senior meal, program and fellowship.

Home Group - Monday Night Alive - Praise Music, Bible Study, personal sharing and support, prayer.

Newsletter Team - Help collate and label monthly newsletter.

Pilgrims in Christ - Preparation for Baptism, Confirmation, Reaffirmation, and Church membership. Assist and organize spiritual formation process from January-May and September-October.

Pastoral Care Team - Food for ill, Funeral meals, New baby ministry, Prayer chain. Cards for Confirmations, Birthdays, Baptisms, Anniversaries, Sympathy, Altar Flower distribution. Dial-a-smile. Donations are accepted for food and supplies if one can not donate of their time.

Stewardship Ministry Team - Educate and promote Christian giving of time, talent and finances of congregation.

Telephone Prayer Chain - Continual update on prayer concerns and petitions.

Vestry - Three-year elected position on visionary and governing body of congregation. Must be a baptized and confirmed person.
